During one of our recent trips to France we happened across this Calvary. We have seen many on our visits but none as impressive as this. It was built in 1709 and destroyed under Louis XIV but rebuilt in 1821.

This was our first glimpse of it which prompted us to stop.

The following pictures show some of the various Stations of the Cross.

As you can see they are all numbered to enable you to follow the course.

Everywhere was immaculate, and the statues were in wonderful condition. I think each one tells the part of the journey quite clearly so have not titled each one. I have just put a selection of them as there were very many of them.

From the highest point the views out to The Briere where we staying and to St. Nazaire were amazing. It was very quiet here when we visited and there were not more than half a dozen other people wandering around but then that is why we love France for its peacefulness and such variety of scenery.

I hope this is what a photoblog should be like any comments would be welcome as having 'cracked' how to do it (thanks to Angie D) would like to do more sometime.
