FinePix Real 3D W3
Upload 3D video from your FinePix Real 3D camera to YouTube
Here's a step-by-step guide to uploading your 3D movies onto YouTube to share with your friends and family. This guide assumes you already have the images downloaded onto your computer. It also requires MyFinePix Studio version 2.0 or higher. You can update your version of MyFinePix by going to "Settings" > "Software" and then "Launch Update". The version I used to make this guide was Product Version 2.0, Software version 4.1.1.1. Finally, it assumes you have a YouTube account
Let's get started!
Open MyFinePix Studio and navigating to the folder that contains your 3D movies.
Select the video file you want to upload (1) and then click on the 3D Tool Palette (2). If you do not have the 3D Tool Palette, click on the cog icon on the right hand side to slide the panel open.
Now click on "Start" (3) next to "3D Movie Trimming"
On this window you are able to trim the movie if required. The important part of this stage is to change the Saving Format (4). YouTube requires the files to be in "WMV (Side by side / for PC)". Select this from the drop down menu
Click save and choose a location to save your movie file
You will then see a screen that looks like this. Depending on the speed of your PC, this stage may take a while! Go make a cuppa
Next up, go to YouTube and log in. If you do not have an account just click "Create Account" and follow the instructions. Once you are logged in, click "Upload" (5) at the top and then "Upload video" (6). Navigate to the folder you saved your 3D video in and select it
Once it starts to upload you are able to fill in the details about it. Choose a nice title and description.
Now here's the important bit! YouTube 3D is still not a final finished product, so in order to tell YouTube that your video should have the additional 3D controls you need to type in some tags (7). The tags required are yt3d:enable=true yt3d:aspect=16:9 yt3d:swap=true
And you are done!. If you view the video file you should see a 3D button in the bottom right of the screen. If you click on this you are given some options for viewing the 3D movie. Hopefully as YouTube develops the feature they will also add additional way of viewing as well.
And here it is - Click here to view the 3D movie I just uploaded. You can even click on the HD button and select 1080p HD as well!

Hi Fred
A good read and the video is great. Although for now, I cannot see myself getting hooked on 3D, but as the technology gets better, as it will. Who knows.
Thanks.

Sorry, this does not work.
Perhaps FinePix or YouTube has changed since you made this guide?
I have followed your steps exactly using a video straight out of my FinePix 3D camera and using FinePix software 3.0b / 4.3.1.11 (you have to delete that YTUploaderlib.dll if it complains)
While the video produced by the software looks okay (apart from a strange pause at the start) when you upload it to YouTube, the image becomes *massively* corrupted.
NB I've tried this multiple times and the same thing happens.
If I use FinePix to make it a 2D video (pick left or right) the video appears fine but when uploaded has large flashing panels over the video.
I've spent hours on this.

GOOD NEWS: The process is now MUCH easier to upload 3D video to YouTube. You can now upload a 3D video directly without doing anything to it before uploading it. YooHoo.

see above for full details. summar info below
In order for a video to be viewed properly in 3D, YouTube needs specific information, including:
If the video was recorded using a 3D camera, it will usually have the above signals (you should see a 3D icon on the bottom right corner of the player). However, if it doesn't, you'll need to specify that the video is 3D by following the steps below:
Please note: If you shot video with a 3D camera and aren't sure what to choose, try picking: "Side by side: left video on the left side". In the past, you may have set 3D metadata using tags (ie, "yt3d:enable=LR” or “yt3d:swap=true"). This is no longer supported and should not be used for newly uploaded videos.
